Many flower bouquets come with a small packet commonly referred to as ‘flower freshness’. This packet contains primarily glucose and citric acid, which provide energy for the flowers and prevent bacterial growth. Florist Stefan Birkel explains that while some suggest homemade solutions involving sugar and vinegar, proper dosages and decades of research ensure commercial products are superior.
