Unions Mobilize Against SNCF Freight Dismantling and Competition in Passenger Transport

French railway unions are calling for a 24-hour strike on November 21 to protest the dismantling of SNCF Fret and the introduction of competition in passenger transport. While minimal disruption to TGV services is expected, some regional lines may face delays. Unions have also announced an unlimited strike beginning December 11. The government has confirmed that there will be no moratorium on the dismantling process, which will see SNCF Fret split into two separate companies by January 1.
