United States Releases 11 Guantanamo Bay Prisoners to Oman

The United States has released eleven Yemeni prisoners from Guantanamo Bay, transferring them to Oman after years of detention without trial. This marks the lowest number of inmates remaining at Guantanamo, with only fifteen left, six of whom are without charges. Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, a key figure in the September 11 attacks, is expected to confess soon, avoiding the death penalty. Previous administrations have attempted to close the facility amid ongoing reports of torture since its establishment in 2002.
