University College Cork Students Protest Accommodation Crisis Ahead of General Election
Students at University College Cork (UCC) staged a protest by hanging 56 bedsheets throughout the city to highlight the urgent need for affordable student accommodation. With many students facing rent increases, UCC Students Union President Katie Halpin-Hill emphasized the necessity for government action to create more publicly-owned student housing. The union’s campaign aims to ensure that access to education is not compromised by unaffordable rents, amid a reported national shortage of 30,000 student beds.
