US Charges Iranian Man in Alleged Plot to Assassinate Donald Trump
The U.S. Department of Justice has charged Farhad Shakeri, an Iranian man linked to Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards Corps, with a plot to assassinate President-elect Donald Trump. Shakeri reportedly confessed to being tasked with creating a plan for the assassination, though he claimed he did not intend to execute it. Iranian officials dismissed the charges as a fabricated scheme by Israel. Additionally, two New York residents were charged with assisting Shakeri in targeting a U.S. citizen of Iranian descent known for criticism of the Iranian regime. Shakeri remains at large in Iran.
