US Conducts Airstrikes Against Iranian-Backed Groups in Syria

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced airstrikes targeting Iranian-supported organizations in Syria, conducted in retaliation for attacks on American forces. Nine sites associated with these groups were struck, resulting in the deaths of four fighters, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. CENTCOM’s Chief, General Michael Erik Kurilla, reiterated a firm stance against attacks on U.S. and allied forces, emphasizing ongoing measures to protect personnel. The U.S. maintains approximately 2,500 troops in Iraq and 900 in Syria as part of the international coalition formed in 2014 to combat ISIS.
