US Imposes Sanctions on Sudanese Leaders Amid Genocide Allegations

Nearly two years after the outbreak of civil war in Sudan, the United States has imposed sanctions on Mohammed Hamdan Daglo, a leader of the RSF militia, over accusations of genocide. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that the RSF has systematically murdered men and boys and targeted women and girls for rape. The US Treasury also sanctioned additional individuals and companies linked to arms supplies to the militia. The ongoing conflict has resulted in over 11 million people displaced, marking the world’s largest refugee crisis.
