Utrecht Celebrates the Restoration of the Iconic Domtoren

Utrecht’s cherished landmark, the Domtoren, is officially reopened following a five-year restoration that cost nearly 36 million euros. The celebration includes live music and a festive parade, with an estimated 1,400 participants. The evening event will feature the lighting of the tower by Queen Máxima and Mayor Sharon Dijksma. The restoration, completed ahead of schedule and under budget, involved meticulous work on approximately 10,000 stones and modern upgrades, ensuring the 700-year-old tower’s longevity. Historical renovations have been essential, with significant restorations occurring every 40 to 50 years.
