Venezuela Releases All Detained Teens Amid Political Unrest

Venezuelan authorities announced the release of all detained minors connected to the unrest following the controversial re-election of President Nicolás Maduro in late July. Despite this good news, many young individuals remain incarcerated. According to the NGO Foro Penal, over 160 minors were arrested during the crisis, as opposition claimed that their candidate, Edmundo González Urrutia, had actually won. As of now, 956 out of 2,400 detainees have been released, while allegations of mistreatment and torture have surfaced amidst the protests, which resulted in numerous fatalities and injuries.
