Veterinary Inspector’s Sentence Reduced in Animal Welfare Case

Michael O’Reilly, a veterinary inspector from Co Cork, had his sentence reduced on appeal after being convicted for animal welfare violations. Initially banned from keeping animals for seven years and fined €4,000 due to poor conditions at his kennels, his fines were decreased to €2,000. The judge acknowledged O’Reilly’s stress during his father’s illness as a contributing factor while noting his efforts to improve kennel conditions since the incident.
