Violence Erupts in Western Syria Amid Protests and Security Operations

Tensions escalated in western Syria during protests and a security operation aimed at capturing a former official from Bashar al-Assad’s regime. At least 14 security personnel of the Syrian transitional government and three armed individuals were killed in clashes in Tartus province. The operation was linked to a notorious prison, and casualties were confirmed by the new Syrian Foreign Minister. Additionally, a night-time curfew was imposed in Homs following protests by the Alawite religious minority, ignited by incendiary videos regarding their places of worship.
