Water Supply Disruption in Berlin on New Year’s Eve Due to Pipe Burst
On New Year’s Eve, parts of Berlin experienced a major disruption in water supply affecting densely populated areas and hundreds of thousands of residents. The outage was attributed to a water pipe burst in the Wedding district. Efforts to restore water pressure were underway, with expectations for stabilization by 10 PM. The damaged pipe dates back to the 1920s, raising concerns about potential material fatigue. Emergency services, including 16 fire trucks, were deployed to manage the situation.
