George Amanatidis, the Governor of Western Macedonia, has formally requested Greek government officials to fund the replacement of oil heating systems with natural gas in the regions of Kastoria, Argos Orestiko, Grevena, and Maniakoi. This initiative aligns with ongoing natural gas network installations and aims to stimulate local adaptation to energy transitions. Amanatidis emphasized the importance of financial support to encourage citizens to connect with the new gas network, noting that delays could undermine significant investments in the area, which has long struggled with high unemployment and depopulation due to lignite phase-outs.
