WHO Reports on Five-Year Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic

Five years after the emergence of COVID-19, the World Health Organization (WHO) has provided an assessment highlighting a continuous decrease in death rates. Currently, approximately 777 million cases have been recorded worldwide, resulting in about seven million deaths. Long COVID remains a significant concern, affecting around six percent of cases. Meanwhile, seasonal flu cases are rising, although COVID-19 is still more prevalent than influenza. The WHO acknowledges challenges in tracking the virus due to reduced testing.
