Widespread Pesticide Contamination Found in Bird Feed Across Dutch Retailers
A recent study by Pesticide Action Network Netherlands reveals alarming levels of pesticides, including harmful substances like piperonyl butoxide and banned chlorpyrifos-methyl, in bird feed sold in Dutch stores. Out of nine samples tested, only one—organic bird feed from C.J. Wildlife—was free from toxic chemicals. The findings also impacted the Vogelbescherming’s products, sparking concerns over potential harm to wildlife. Consumers are advised to opt for organic bird seeds or make their own mixes from organic grains to mitigate health risks.
