Winter Approaches in Switzerland: Snowfall Forecast and Skiing Updates

As winter approaches Switzerland, meteorologist Luzian Schmassmann reports that the snowline is expected to drop significantly. Following a warm weekend, a cold front will bring snow to the Alps from Sunday evening, with accumulations of 10 to 30 cm in the foothills and even more in higher altitudes by midweek. Ski resorts like Saas-Fee and Zermatt are already open for early skiers. With temperatures dropping to freezing in lowland areas, residents are advised to prepare gardens for winter. The cold spell is anticipated to continue through the week, though warming trends may follow.
