The world’s largest iceberg, A23a, measuring over 3,800 sq km, has begun drifting northward after being trapped for over 30 years in the Weddell Sea. Having escaped a vortex that kept it stagnant near the South Orkney Islands, it is expected to break up and melt as it continues its journey.
