Yoann Richomme Leads Vendée Globe at Cape Horn on Christmas Eve
Yoann Richomme, skipper of Paprec Arkea, secured a significant lead in the Vendée Globe by passing the Cape Horn, the southernmost point of South America, at 0:27 AM on December 24. Celebrating his Christmas gift, Richomme expressed excitement over the milestone, achieving this after 43 days at sea. He is on track to potentially break the record set in 2016 by Armel Le Cléac’h, who reached the cape in 47 days. However, he remains closely followed by Charlie Dalin, with only 0.87 nautical miles separating them.
