Zürich Artists Discover Bioluminescent Mushroom

In a dark forest in Zurich-Albisrieden, artists Heidy Baggenstos and Andreas Rudolf stumble upon a bioluminescent mushroom, later identified as the Gelbmilchender Helmling. Initially suspected to be Mycena haematopus, further investigation reveals its unique glowing property was previously unknown. Accompanied by mycologist Renate Heinzelmann, they conduct light measurements and publish their findings. The role of such bioluminescence in fungi remains unclear, suggesting the possibility of discovering more luminescent species in the future.
