The city of Zurich has introduced a sponsorship program to fund its beloved Christmas lights, known as ‘Lucy’. As the lights were turned on amid snowfall, the community was invited to contribute CHF 45 for a sponsorship that secures one of the illuminated crystals for a year. The funds will cover ongoing maintenance and potential future replacements of the elaborate display, which includes 11,500 crystals and 23,000 LED lights. Already, hundreds of sponsorships have been sold, indicating strong community support.
